4-H Club
Open to fourth through eighth graders, the school’s 4-H club is part of the largest national out of school youth program in the United States, with over 7 million members nationwide. In addition to 4-H sponsored events, the club sponsors service projects to benefit both school and community.
MATHCOUNTS
A national enrichment and competition program, MATHCOUNTS promotes middle school mathematics achievement through school, district, state and national competitions. All CCS junior high students practice MATHCOUNTS problems daily by working problems of the day and weekly problem sets.  In January, the math department forms a school competition team, for which any CCS junior high student may try out. The team competes at the local and regional level, often qualifying for the state MATHCOUNTS competition.

Math & Science Club
Membership in the Science and Math Club is open to seventh and eighth grade students by invitation only. Members must maintain at least a B average in Math and Science to participate. Members meet monthly to conduct experiments and plan upcoming events, including a three-day excursion to LUMCON (Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium) in Cocodrie, Louisiana, where students learn about Louisiana coastal ecology. The group also travels to Houston to visit NASA and the Houston Museum of Natural History.

National Junior Beta Club
Membership in the Junior Beta Club is by invitation, based on a students’ academic performance. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade CCS students with a minimum 3.0 GPA (with no grade below a “C”) during the previous school year are invited to join the club. All members must maintain a 3.0 GPA during the school year. The Beta Club goals are to promote academic excellence and assist the community and school through service projects. The club sponsors the school’s “Red Ribbon Week" promoting drug awareness education and participates in Junior Beta District Day competition.
